some months ago while I was coming back from Greece, my guitar was broken in the plane.  I can imagine it flying in the air and gently falling in the luggage compartment of the plane after thrown by very gentle guy… yes! because it said everywhere in the case “handle with care”.

A week later, I opened the flight-case and noticed the strings where extra loosen, more than what I had slacken them before traveling, then I noticed something weird in the neck, what? yes, it was broke, a really nice oblique fracture making a two-part electric guitar.

That same night with a black broken guitar (and kinda broken heart) I was told about crowd-funding, and I figure I could offer some gifts to happy donors who could help me finance a new guitar, and to give it a try I wrote this post, and to my surprise many friends and people who enjoy my music made really nice contributions.  This was a very nice surprice, totally unbelievable.  So after some days I was able to buy a new beautiful guitar! (you can see her in the picture below, is white, lighter, smaller, angrier… and guapísima!)

So, all this story is basically to THANK all the people who donated and made it easier to replace my equipment!, I am really happy to be able to look at her every morning when I come into the bedroom/studio, to see that she gets along pretty well with Mr Aqua Dalt and specially to have the same guitar as W. Ellis, Miss S. Niblet and Mr Cobain.

Ricardo Duque and I produced this program as part of the Fons Series for Radio Web Macba, this one is about The Otolith Group an artists’ collective founded in London in 2000 by Anjalika Sagar and Kodwo Eshun.
The Otolith Group explores the nature of perception, and engages in the construction of new temporalities. Past, present and future are interspersed throughout the group’s work with the same intensity as reality and fiction, thus destabilizing the dominant narratives of Western culture and indicating the inconsistencies of the post-colonial world. Theirs is a science fiction of the present, which recovers forgotten moments from history and projects them into the future.

James Pants’ self titled LP is out now on Stones Throw label. He invited me to record some vocals and three of them are included in this amazing album. One is called Clouds over the pacific, he chose the name and I sang and wrote the lyrics. I was having this image in loop in my head from a David Attemborough’s documentaries of fish flying (see the video below), so this was the starting point to write a beach/ritual/day/night/magic lyric. The other one is called Incantation with some nonsense Spanish statements. The other one is called Dreamboat, one of my favorites, lots reverberated voice layers that I enjoyed so much recording in the aisle of my house.

I strongly recommend to check out this album! Every Night, darlin, strange girl, all amazing songs, nice cover pic (red!), nice all nice!

I raise the glass of wine to this one, cause is an honor to be part of an album of such an amazing artist and that I admire so much. Big up to James Pants.
